The Story Behind Reason and Power Pilates.

‘There is a reason for every movement and every movement gives you power!’

It makes sense that there should be an essence to and a reason behind each and every movement. No matter how small, that single movement can have a significant impact on your body, your physical strength but also your mental power. We build from there.

I truly believe…

I truly believe that Pilates practise is rooted in quality of movement, patience and consistency while also giving ourselves permission to listen to our own bodies, with no judgement! This is intelligent exercise where you move at your own pace, pause when you need to and push when you can.  That’s powerful!

However, there is a little more to the story! Born in Ireland, my maiden name before I married into the O’Grady clan was O’Connell. When I was thinking about a name for this Pilates venture my son and his friend happened upon the O’Connell family motto which in Irish reads ‘Ciall agus Neart’, and translates to ‘Reason and Power’. I like to think that I teach with reason, I explain the ‘why’ in every move so we build strength and power from the inside, out.

Ready to get started..

The full roll up might be one of the most popular exercises from the Pilates mat repertoire however it is definitely one of the hardest! Give it a shot!

“I have been a Pilates client of Georgina’s taking 1-1 sessions, twice a week for over 5 years. I have taken classes all over the world and Georgina’s attention to detail, resourceful nature (working around injuries) allowed me to regain strength and develop a love for Pilates. Not only has it toned and elongated my body these Pilates session have enabled a much easier recovery from extensive abdominal surgery. Georgina’s efforts to ensure each class is unique keeps me engaged. I continue to learn something new every class. Georgina treats you with care, you don’t just feel like a client.”
